Not only do we have a secure garden at Dog in the City, where the pack can relax and play, but our pups also get to enjoy a cozy rest indoors. After their morning walk, they can curl up on one of our comfy dog beds to recharge before lunch is served. 

Then it’s time for round two—an afternoon walk full of fresh air and more tail-wagging fun.

Sometimes during our walks, we find a peaceful spot on Hampstead Heath where the pack can relax together. It’s the perfect time for a few cuddles, some calm bonding, and a little break from the excitement. We also use this moment to check each dog’s paws—making sure they’re clean, healthy, and comfortable before we continue our adventure.
Just like Scout in the (picture above) who loves these quiet check-in moments as much as the run-around!

During our walks, we always bring water along to keep every dog hydrated, particularly during the hotter summer months. We also carefully choose routes with plenty of shaded areas to help our pups stay cool.
Take Monty, for example (pictured above) he’s especially sensitive to high temperatures and humidity, so we make sure his walks are adjusted accordingly. At Dog in the City, every dog’s well-being is our top priority.

Matt at Dog in The City helped to look after our puppy Dora from when she was 3 months old.  Dora, a Bassett Fauve de Bretagne, was quite a handful, but Matt walked her 3 times a week and helped to train her as well. Dora stayed with Matt overnight every Wednesday and stayed with him for an entire week when we were away. 

Dora absolutely adored Matt.  She was very attached to me, as her main carer, but Matt was the only other person that she would happily go off with.  Dora came back from her walks really well exercised, having had a brilliant time with Matt and the other dogs that were with them.

Matthew has been looking after our dog Alfie for over one and a half years.

Our dog is looked after daily by Matthew every week and he also spends extended amounts of time there when we are on holiday up to two weeks at a time.

Alfie is always excited when Matthew appears at our front door on a Tuesday morning and always comes back clearly looking like he has had lots of fun!

Matthew is always on time to pick up Alfie and we also trust him with a set of keys to our house.

I have known Matthew for 1 year, and he has looked after my Beagle puppy Scout during this year both on an occasional daily basis, and also for long extended periods whilst I’ve been on vacation, on one occasion for almost 4 weeks.

From my first meeting with Matthew, I immediately knew he was the right person to take care of my dog when I needed.  He is a wonderful person, warm and loving and clearly loves animals very much.  Scout took to him immediately and runs to the door when he hears him arrive, even though she knows it means she’s being taken away.

As the dog owner of a 3 year old Vizsla, Sampson, I would highly recommend dog walking/day creche/overnight services by Matthew, Dog in the City.

When I moved to London from the US about a year and a half ago, I did hours of research and had multiple meetings with dog walkers. Our dog is our baby. I was searching for someone that would take Sampson for walks/day creche when needed, and would take him into their home when we went on holiday. I was also hoping to I find someone through a personal recommendation.

I was lucky enough to have received a personal recommendation for Matthew and Dog in the City. Matthew has now been caring for Sampson for over a year. He occasionally takes him for the day when I need help or Sampson needs more activity, and takes him anytime we go on holiday (which has been for several weeks at a time). Sampson loves Matthew and his Dog in the City doggy friends. He has become a very important part of Sampson's life, and our lives.

Matthew has looked after our dog Jasper for almost 5 months and we have been absolutely delighted with his professionalism, time keeping and flexibility in responding to our changing needs.

Matthew take care of Zeus on a weekly basis.

Zeus and Matthew quickly developed a close friendship. This was obvious in the manner in which Zeus greeted Matthew whenever he saw him. Not the type of greeting he gives to everyone but the type of greeting that he gives to only those who he truly feels are his friends. There is always a bit of trepidation every time you give your 'child' to someone but these feelings quickly dissipated and I felt good knowing that Zeus was actually going to have a fun and stimulating day. 

This was reinforced when Zeus would be brought home at the end of the day and he looked just as happy and playful as when he was picked up in the morning.

Matthew has looked after our dog Eddy since he was 11 weeks old and we cannot speak highly enough of him. Matthew is very reliable and flexible and looks after Eddy at least twice a week and will have him for two weeks at a time when we go away on longer trips.

He is a keyholder to our apartment which makes it very convenient for us. He will take Eddy to the vet if need arises and is always very responsible in spotting if our dog might be unwell and then always makes the right decisions.

Eddy adores Matthew and cannot wait to see him in the morning. Matthew is very friendly, professional and always tries to accommodate us where possible and we could not think of a better person looking after Eddy and can highly recommend him to anyone yonen

We wanted to say how delighted we are with Matthew from Dog in the City. As the owners of two cavaliers who don't do well in kennels, we were desperate to find a dog sitter who would take them into their home and love them like we do when we aren't there. 

The pick-up and drop-off service is wonderful and Duchess and Oscar literally tear out of our arms and into Matthew's when he comes to pick them up so he is definitely doing something right!! Matthew has gone above and beyond when Oscar has been sick in his care, ensuring he gets immediate veterinary care and continues to check on him long after the dogs have come back to us. We can't recommend him highly enough! 

Matthew has been looking after our Wirehaired Vizsla, Boo for over two years now, not only on weekdays but also at weekends and overnight when need be. 

She always leaves with her tail wagging returns tired and happy! 

Matthew is quick to spot any health or medical issues that become apparent with the dogs in his care (and to take action if necessary). He is a gregarious and reliable dog-walker and I would have no issue in recommending him to owners of any size of dog. 

Matthew has been our dog sitter for nearly 3 years. He provides an outstanding level of service and care and we have no hesitation in recommending him. He is reliable, cheerful, caring and has a genuine love of dogs, he treats everyone as if it were his own. Our dog Sasha always comes home from daycare with a big smile and we have no hesitation with leaving him during the holidays either as Matthew provides such a caring and stress free environment for them all.
